Buccaneers work out Kroy Biermann

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers worked out veteran defensive end Kroy Biermann, according to Ed Werder of ESPN. He reports the Bucs won’t sign Biermann, for now, but could add him at a later date.

The 31-year old Biermann played eight seasons for the Atlanta Falcons, seven of them under then head coach Mike Smith, who’s now the Bucs’ defensive coordinator. He racked up 23.5 sacks in his career, but never managed more than five in a single season.

The Bucs could use some help at defensive end, having just lost Jacquies Smith for the year to a torn ACL, but it’s hard to see how a 31-year old defensive end who was never all that special is going to represent a big upgrade.
