The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived wide receiver Robert Herron and cornerback Leonard Johnson to get to the 75-man roster limit, in addition to placing Akeem Spence on the Physically Unable to Perform list, releasing punter Michael Koenen and waiving center Josh Allen.
Herron's release signals the first 2014 draft pick the Bucs are parting ways with. Herron has looked explosive throughout his tenure with the Bucs, but simply hasn't been able to catch the football. That's kind of a death knell for any receiver, especially when they get significant competition from undrafted rookies, as is the case this year.
