The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived longsnapper Dax Dellenbach after officially signing cornerback Robert McClain, the team announced.
That signing was reported yesterday, but the official signing didn’t take place until today—likely to not get caught in the NFL’s compensatory draft pick deadline. The Bucs are currently projected to get a seventh-round pick next year, which they may have lost had they signed McClain.
The Bucs signed Dellenbach in February, after losing long-time longsnapper Andrew DePaola to a knee injury. Dellenbach had participated in last year’s rookie minicamp after going undrafted out of Florida State, but apparently didn’t show the Bucs enough to actually stick on the roster.
