The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will miss six players against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced. Those players include, surprisingly, linebacker Daryl Smith, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and running back Doug Martin. All of them have minor nicks and their absence isn't expected to be serious or long-term, just precautionary for a largely meaningless preseason game.
Those absences should give some other players some room to shine. It'll be interesting to see how Charles Sims handles being a real first-string running back, and what the defensive line looks like in McCoy's absence.
