Buccaneers, sports authority agree on $100 million Raymond James Stadium upgrade

TAMPA — The owners of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tampa Sports Authority have reached an agreement on paying for a $100 million makeover to Raymond James Stadium.

The deal would require Hillsborough County to contribute $29 million, including $3 million for jumbo video boards that would be the third largest in the NFL.

The agreement is still subject to approval by Hillsborough County, the city of Tampa and the sports authority board.

It comes after negotiations, which began in January, hit a snag earlier this fall over a couple of issues — primarily, the team's desire to play a second "home" game away from Raymond James Stadium.
