The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted wide receiver Jeremy Butler to the active roster from the practice squad, Pro Football Talk reports.
The Bucs signed defensive tackle John Hughes and waived wide receiver Freddie Martino and linebacker Josh Keyes yesterday, so they had an open spot on the 53-man roster. Though why the Bucs preferred Butler over Martino remains unclear.
Butler is a 6’2”, 213 lbs. receiver who entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Tennessee Martin in 2014. He spent the first two years with the Baltimore Ravens, his rookie year on injured reserve, and his second year on the practice squad for half the season, and on the 53-man roster for the second half of the year.
