The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed running back Russell Hansbrough to the 53-man roster, the team announced. He’ll take the place of Antone Smith, who was placed on injured reserve, as was defensive end Howard Jones.
The Bucs also announced that they signed wide receiver Josh Huff to their practice squad. Huff was arrested last week for DUI, possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of marijuana. The Philadelphia Eagles predictably released him.
Huff has not been productive as a receiver, totaling just 482 receiving yards in three seasons. He does, however, have two career kickoff returns for touchdowns, so he could be a useful weapon there, if the Bucs add him to their 53-man roster.
