The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed eight players to futures contracts today, the team announced. Futures contracts are effectively regular contracts that take effect at the start of next season’s offseason: March 6. Only players who aren’t on a 53-man roster are eligible for these contracts.
All eight of the players were on the Bucs’ practice squad of the season, including linebacker Eric Nzeocha, who was with the Bucs on an international development program that set aside a special practice squad spot for him. Nzeocha, who is German, will get a shot to stick around this year.
