Buccaneers promote Freddie Martino to active roster

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted wide receiver Freddie Martino to the active roster, waiving linebacker Josh Keyes in the process.

Martino is a 6’0”, 195 lbs. receiver who entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of North Greenville, and initially signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2014 — which is probably why Dirk Koetter gave him a chance. Martino has no career catches, though, nor did he particularly stand out this offseason or preseason.

Martino will replace Cecil Shorts III, at least in the short term, as the receiver suffered an injury on his very first catch of the season.
