The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted wide receiver Freddie Martino to the active roster, the team announced today. Martino spent this season on the team’s practice squad, and played 13 games for them last year, catching eight passes for 142 yards and one touchdown.
Martino originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of North Greenville in 2014, and spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Bucs.
Martino will take Mike Evans’ roster spot, who’s suspended for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets for an after-the-play hit on cornerback Marshon Lattimore last Sunday.
