The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will add another six coaching interns to their staff this offseason in the context of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, an NFL-wide program that aims to increase the number of full-time minority coaches.
Oftentimes, one or two of these fellows will end up joining the coaching staff on a more permanent basis, so it’s worth keeping an eye on. Offensive assistant Skyler Fulton and assistant to the head coach Anthony Perkins got their start with the Bucs last year through one of these fellowships, for instance.
You may recognize Kerry Joseph and Darnell Stapleton on the list: the former played safety for the Seattle Seahawks for four years, and spent 12 years in the CFL as a quarterback, winning a Grey Cup and a Most Outstanding Player Award.
