The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be starting Bruce Carter at middle linebacker, despite Danny Lansanah saying on Wednesday he'd take over for Kwon Alexander. The Tampa Bay Times has an article out today noting the Bucs chose Carter to man the middle, with Lansanah staying on the strong side.
The Bucs signed Carter to a four-year, $17 million contract this offseason, but he promptly lost the middle linebacker job to fourth-round draft pick Kwon Alexander, and couldn't beat out Danny Lansanah at strong side linebacker. It seems the Bucs still feel Carter is the better fit at middle linebacker, though, and perhaps there's something to that: he did have five interceptions for the Dallas Cowboys last year -- but then, he played outside linebacker there.
