The NFC South has made plenty of headlines throughout the offseason.
Cam Newton signed a five-year, $103.8 million contract extension with the Carolina Panthers. Newton’s new deal made him one of the highest-paid players in the NFL and it came $1 million short of matching Colin Kaepernick for the most guaranteed money in league history.
The Atlanta Falcons decided to part ways with Mike Smith, who had a 66-46 record in his seven years as the team’s head coach. Following Smith’s departure, offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter looked for a new home and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcomed him with open arms.
