LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears’ highly anticipated place kicker competition really hasn’t been much of a competition -- at least not yet.
Incumbent kicker Connor Barth has been close to perfect since the Bears claimed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-round pick Roberto Aguayo off waivers on Aug. 13.
Barth converted a field goal (42 yards) and two extra points in Chicago’s preseason victory at Arizona. Barth also made all three of his kicks in the Bears’ exhibition opener against Denver.
“[Barth’s been] pretty good,” Bears coach John Fox said.
