After a standout performance in last weekend’s game against the Vikings, Alexander was promoted from the second-team to a starter at middle linebacker. Alexander appeared with the ones during the Bucs’ first practice of the week, and after the second, Head Coach Lovie Smith announced that he would be taking over the spot permanently, if there is such a thing, and that Bruce Carter, who had previously worked with the first-team, would compete with Danny Lansanah for the strong side outside linebacker spot. During a press conference, Gerald McCoy said he hadn’t seen a linebacker run like Alexander since Lavonte David arrived in Tampa.
