The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are adding more defensive help this offseason. The team signed DE Robert Ayers away from the New York Giants Friday.
Ayers is getting a three-year, $21 million deal, according to Ian Rapoport. Ayers' contract includes $10.5 million in guaranteed money.
The Bucs badly need pass rushing help, and Ayers will help provide that. Tampa Bay could still look to the draft for more help. He recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks last season. He's had at least five sacks for three straight seasons.
The Giants' addition of Olivier Vernon and re-signing of Jason Pierre-Paul spelled the end of Ayers' time in New York. Miami beat out the Jaguars for Ayers.
