SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Eleven three pointers for North Carolina State (16-8, 7-6 ACC) spoiled Joseph Girard III's career night, as the Wolfpack outlasted Syracuse (14-10, 7-6 ACC), 79-74, Tuesday evening in the Carrier Dome. The Orange record against NC State falls to 7-6 in 13 matchups.
The freshman Girard set new career-highs in points (30), field goals made (9) and free throws made (11). Classmate Quincy Guerrier also posted a career-high 16 points and his second double-double of the season with 10 boards.
EARLY WOLFPACK ATTACK
An 8-0 scoring run put the visiting Wolfpack ahead of the Orange, 12-7, 7:34 into the contest and forced coach Jim Boeheim to call an early timeout.
