Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse University women's basketball coach Quentin Hillsman and freshman guard Desiree Elmore have talked a lot this season, a predictable development since Elmore needs to hold down a big role with the team.
But sometimes they've chatted more than expected and not all of the chats have carried the tone Hillsman and Elmore might have hoped. Elmore begin this year with a bit of lethargy, and it was the coach's responsibility to strongly nudge her toward improvement.
"When you're struggling, a lot of conversations aren't very good. They aren't very positive,'' Hillsman said. "They're always about things you're not doing well.
