Which former Syracuse athletes could have their jerseys retired in 2022-23?

Last year the Syracuse Orange finally honored three former women’s athletes with jersey retirement, and they also honored Gary Gait.

Who’s next in 2022-23? Let’s look at some candidates by sport:

Basketball: Rudy Hackett, Gerry McNamara, Leo Rautins are all viable candidates for the men, but we think G-Mac will need to wait a few years for his time. For the women there’s a strong case to be made for Kayla Alexander to be the next woman honored.

Crew: Tom Darling and Natalie Mastracci both made multiple Olympic Games appearances and each earned a silver medal.
