Syracuse, N.Y. -- College basketball referees taking part in the Take Charge Officiating Camp at Le Moyne College this past weekend thought that the NCAA's efforts to reduce physical play were having a positive impact on the game.
The referees conducting the officiating camp said that an emphasis on reducing hand-checking on the dribbler, allowing freedom of movement for players without the ball and cleaning up the physical play under the basket had all helped increase scoring over the past two seasons.
The officials also said that the most disputed call in the game is not really that hard to make.
