Sioux Falls, S.D. — The Syracuse University women's basketball team played in its first NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 game on Friday, and Sunday it will dance in its first Elite Eight contest.
And while the Orange might have come into the tournament perceived as a second-tier challenger, there's no reason to think they can't keep setting new program standards right until the final game of the season.
The Orange's upset of top-seeded South Carolina on Friday was part of an overall upheaval that gives legitimate hope to any one of the four remaining teams on this side of the bracket trying to presumably earn the honor of attempting to slay Connecticut in the title game April 5 in Indianapolis.
