Former Syracuse standout Tyler Lydon will have to spend the rest of the season competing for his NBA future.
The Denver Nuggets declined to use a team option for the third year of Lydon's rookie contract on Wednesday, according to various media reports. That will make him an unrestricted free agent next year.
Lydon, 22, will have made $3.5 million during his first two NBA seasons with the Denver Nuggets. The club declined a third-year option for $2.2 million.
