The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team handled the San Diego State Aztecs by a final score of 78-62 in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Orange advance to play the winner of West Virginia/Morehead State in the Round of 32.
Inside Hinkle Fieldhouse, Buddy Boeheim came out hot, carrying the offense by scoring 16 of Syracuse’s first 19 points. He picked up his second foul and sat toward the end of the half before making a brief appearance just prior to the intermission. He didn’t cool off in the second half, either.
The 2-3 zone tightened up in the game and limited the Aztecs from outside.
