WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Syracuse placekicker Andre Szmyt was chosen as one of the three Lou Groza Award "Stars of the Week" on Monday, Oct. 1 for his performance against Clemson.
The Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Award, which is presented by the Orange Bowl, recognizes three of the top FBS kickers each week. In addition to Szmyt, Bailey Hale of Louisiana Tech and Jared Sackett of UTSA earned the honor for Week 5 of the 2018 college football season.
Szmyt connected on three field goals, including a career-long of 51 yards, in the Orange's 27-23 loss to the third-ranked Tigers in Death Valley.
