You may remember the news last year that former Syracuse Orange tight end Chris Gedney passed away, but in the time since, we haven’t heard a lot about what happened that day, the issues he regularly dealt with, and of course, the family he’d leave behind.
Syracuse.com’s Nate Mink rectified that with a really in-depth and powerful profile which appeared on Wednesday. The article (an excellent read, by the way), discusses Gedney’s battles with colitis, depression, CTE, alcohol, opioids and the ultimate decision to end his life last March. But also importantly, it talks about the friends and family that he had an impact on as well, and who continue to miss him more than a year after his passing.
