Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Syracuse women's lacrosse team wound up having a fall season after all.
The only difference was that Orange just condensed it into a 30-minute stretch against Connecticut on Friday night in the Carrier Dome.
After an understandable hiccup or two in that stretch, SU looked primed for whatever upcoming challenges await.
Emily Hawryschuk scored four times to spark a balanced Orange attack that ran off to a 23-11 season-opening win over the Huskies. Syracuse, which got goals from 12 players, put the game away with a burst of seven goals in seven minutes after intermission and outscored UConn 14-3 overall in the second half.
