Syracuse, N.Y. -- Waiting for Syracuse at the end of this defining early season stretch was a rival that has thwarted Gary Gait's program from reaching the summit of the women's lacrosse mountain.
Maryland, winners of three of the last four national championships, a program that has time and again eliminated Syracuse women's lacrosse from the NCAA Tournament, once again exercised its dominance against the Orange in an 18-11 victory Sunday here at the Carrier Dome, capping a three-games-in-one-week stretch in which SU dropped a one-goal game at Virginia and rebounded with a 17-15 victory against No. 3 Florida.
