Syracuse women's basketball star on list for national honor

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse's Tiana Mangakahia is one of 20 points guards in women's college basketball named to the 2019 Nancy Lieberman Award watch list.

The award recognizes the top point guard in Division I.

Mangakahia led the nation in assists (304) and assists per game (9.8) last year as a sophomore. She also paced the Orange in scoring (17.5 ppg) and steals (176).

Past Nancy Lieberman Award recipients include Sue Bird (Connecticut, 2000-02), Diana Taurasi (Connecticut 2003-04), SkylarDiggins (Notre Dame, 2012-13) and Kelsey Plum (2017). Last season, Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu won the award.

The Atlantic Coast Conference has had three Nancy Lieberman Award winners: Ivory Latta (North Carolina, 2006), Lindsey Harding (Duke, 2007) and most recently Diggins in 2013.
