Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse sophomore forward Digna Strautmane has been named to Latvia's senior women's national team. Latvia will make its FIBA women's basketball World Cup debut in Tenerife, Spain from Sept. 22-30.
Latvia will face China, Senegal and USA in Group D and will open play against China at 6 a.m. ET Saturday.
Strautmane earned Atlantic Coast Conference all-freshman team honors and was the female rookie of the year at the 2017 'Cuse Awards.
She started all 31 games for the Orange last season, recording 13 games in double figures and two double-doubles. She scored a career-high 25 points (10-for-16) against Boston College and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds on three separate occasions.
