Syracuse, N.Y. -- No women's college basketball team in the land is more aware than Syracuse University of just how powerful UConn has been the last few seasons.
The Huskies twice counted SU among its 111 straight wins, crushing the Orange in the NCAA title game last year and then again in the NCAA Tournament second round this season.
There's little reason to believe that the gap between the Huskies and almost every other program has significantly closed. But UConn's stunning overtime loss to Mississippi in the NCAA Tournament semifinals last week at least raises a few hopes that on a day when everything goes right, the sport's top dog can be beat.
