LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Syracuse defense accumulated eight quarterback sacks and held Liberty to -4 yards rushing while pitching a shutout and the #22 Orange (1-0) opened its campaign with a 24-0 blanking of the Flames (0-1).
The Orange had rushing touchdowns from redshirt junior Abdul Adams, sophomore Jarveon Howard and senior Moe Neal.
It was Syracuse's first away-game shutout since the Orange won at Tulane on September 28, 1991, 24-0. The Orange had a neutral-site blanking on August 24, 1997 by beating Wisconsin, 34-0, in the Meadowlands.
