Syracuse safety Devon Clarke ruled ineligible to play the 2017 season

Syracuse football redshirt freshman safety Devon Clarke, who was suspended from the team in February after he was arrested and charged with burglary, is ineligible to play. An SU Athletics spokesman confirmed the news first reported by Syracuse.com’s Stephen Bailey to The Daily Orange Tuesday evening.

“Given University policy and federal student privacy laws, we are not able to provide further details,” SU assistant director of athletic communications Mike Morrison said in an email to Syracuse.com.

Clarke did not immediately respond to a phone call and text from The Daily Orange.

Both Clarke and Jaquwan Nelson were arrested and charged in February for stealing two pairs of “Yeezy” boots, a laptop and a PlayStation 4, according to Sgt.
