SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- County Executive Joanie Mahoney's phone call to SU officails about safety concerns amid today's ferocious snow storm led to the postponement of tonight's NIT game.
This week's storm, which forecasters say could be the biggest in Central New York in 10 years, closed schools, roads and even suspended mail delivery in parts of the state.
It kept Syracuse University's John Wildhack on his toes in his first post-season as athletic director. Wildhack walked a reporter through the decision to postpone tonight's first-round game against UNC Greensboro.
As snow dropped across Upstate New York last night and into this morning, Wildhack monitored the weather, but hoped to forge ahead with game.
