Syracuse Mourns the Passing of Chris Gedney

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse Senior Associate Athletics Director and All-America tight end Chris Gedney passed away on Friday, March 9 at the age of 47.

A native of nearby Liverpool, N.Y., Gedney was a four-year standout for the Orange football team from 1989-92. He helped the lead program to a 35-12-2 record and four bowl victories during his career.

Gedney was a third-round pick in the 1993 NFL Draft. He played seven seasons for the Chicago Bears and the Arizona Cardinals before returning to his alma mater in 2008 as the Orange's Club's assistant athletics director for major gifts.
