When the Syracuse Orange left Dorrance Field on Tuesday, elated for the second time this season. As the 10-seed, the Orange (7-5-5, 2-4-2) took on the 7-seed North Carolina Tar Heels (7-7-4, 3-5-0) in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The Orange were able to walk away the victors, 5-3 on penalties, after a 0-0 draw through regular time. Christian Miesch adjusted and made the save in the opening frame, giving Syracuse the advantage, and Matt Orr sealed the fifth penalty to advance to the second round where the Orange will meet the Virginia Cavaliers.
