Syracuse, N.Y. -- One of the most eager Syracuse lacrosse teams in the program's history took the field at the Ensley Athletic Center on Wednesday.
The players shared laughs and goofed around at media day as they began to burn off loads of excess energy. The fun felt refreshing after a mumps outbreak at the school crimped the fall schedule, interrupting practices and cancelling scrimmages.
But the more pressing issue was an unspoken one, although little really needs to be said as a reminder. Syracuse, once the home office of college lacrosse, hasn't won a national title since 2009.
