A little over a month ago I posted a blog that Syracuse had been overtaken in the attendance game. While the Maryland Terrapins did win the attendance battle for the regular season, both programs hosted a first round NCAA Tournament game that altered the totals. Against the Bryant Bulldogs the Terps had just 1,541 fans while the Syracuse Orange pulled in 3,569 fans, which elevated SU into first…again.
The ‘Cuse finished with 34,271 fans in 2017 while Maryland brought in 33,030. The third place team, Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, had only 24,775 fans and barely edged out the Denver Pioneers who had 24,583 attendees.
