Syracuse lacrosse goalie Evan Molloy has been named the ACC's defensive player of the week.
Molloy anchored a defense that held the Johns Hopkins offense to a season-low seven goals while making seven saves, collecting three ground balls, causing a turnover and recording an assist.
Molloy's unit shut out Hopkins for over 20 minutes in the first half and held off a late JHU rally that provided Nick Mariano the opportunity to tie the game late before Brendan Bomberry won it in overtime for the Orange.
Molloy also recorded an assist on a key save that would have tied the game in the fourth quarter.
