Syracuse legend and longtime assistant Gerry McNamara is leaving the program to become the head coach of Siena's men's basketball team.
Siena announced McNamara's hiring on Friday. He will be formally introduced at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET.
"I want to thank President Seifert and Athletic Director John D'Argenio for this incredible opportunity," McNamara said in a statement included in the announcement. "I am so honored and excited to lead Siena College as the new head men's basketball coach. My family and I can't wait to get started and embrace Siena and the Capital Region.
