Syracuse guard Tyus Battle is starting to make excellence look easy

New York -- Eight games into Syracuse's season, Tyus Battle's excellence has become virtually automatic.

While Matthew Moyer's emergence, Frank Howard's rare struggle and Syracuse's physical dominance of the Huskies felt like the primary storylines after an 72-63 win over UConn, a glance at the box score would have indicated Battle was overlooked.

The shooting guard dropped a game-high 22 points on the Huskies, carrying the Syracuse offense during the moments when UConn was actually able to box out the Orange.

With Syracuse leading 47-36 early in the second half, Battle delivered Syracuse's next eight points, burying a pair of 3-pointers and a jumper to give Syracuse a 17-point edge, its biggest of the game, which it nursed safely to the finish without UConn getting closer than seven points.
