Syracuse football's 'surest way' to beat Wake Forest was running Eric Dungey

Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Dino Babers huddled with Eric Dungey in the middle of Saturday's game here and gave his senior quarterback a proposition.

Continue bludgeoning Wake Forest's wounded middle with running backs or greenlight his senior quarterback to run and force the defense to account for him in space.

"If we run you," Babers said he told Dungey, "they won't have a chance."

Surprise, surprise, Dungey did not defer, battering Wake Forest for 82 of his game-high 119 rushing yards in the second half, including a 26-yard touchdown dash up the middle -- the fifth of five rushing touchdowns for the Orange in its 41-24 victory at BB&T Field.
