Syracuse, N.Y. -- Andrew Armstrong arrived at Syracuse University last summer eager to compete at strong-side linebacker.
Then a freshman, he competed throughout offseason workouts and preseason camp. Veterans Zaire Franklin and Parris pushed him because they saw his potential. And ultimately, he began to bridge the gap from core special teamer to rotational reserve.
But soon after Armstrong logged a season-high four tackles at Connecticut on Sept. 24, he was asked to switch positions.
"I really got the position down pat and about midway through the season they took me aside and asked me if I could move to Mike because that's where they see me long term," Armstrong said during a wide-ranging interview on Tuesday.
