Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football entered preseason camp thin along the defensive line.
The unit lost junior defensive tackle Steven Clark (medical DQ), redshirt junior defensive end Josh Allen (medical DQ) and redshirt freshman defensive end Jaquwan Nelson this offseason.
Now, midway through the second week of practice, the Orange is without two more experienced defensive ends due to injury.
Sophomore Josh Black, a returning starter, and redshirt sophomore Jake Pickard were both on the sidelines with their left knees in braces during the open portion of practice on Thursday.
Pickard missed his third straight practice and continues to wear a large brace that covers most of his leg.
