Syracuse, N.Y. — For a few minutes on Wednesday afternoon, it appeared that Syracuse had accepted its third commitment from a Class of 2016 prospect in as many days.
After Georgia defensive back Monquavion Brinson and New Jersey defensive end Jamal Holloway announced their pledges on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, Osceola (Kissimmee, Fla.) High School safety Devon Clarke tweeted that he was committing to the Orange on Wednesday.
However, the regular batch of coded confirmation tweets from SU coaches and recruiting department staffers (e.g. 'Boom,' '#OrangeRevolution) that avoid NCAA regulations didn't follow.
Clarke deleted the tweet later in the day and followed up Thursday morning with a tweet that indicated he was not committed to the Orange.
