Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Syracuse football team held a closed scrimmage Friday morning, its first of preseason camp.
The Orange ran 163 plays over one hour and 43 minutes, SU head coach Dino Babers said in an SU Athletics video, many drives in which the first-team offense squared off against the first-team defense.
"What we need to do now is we've got to go back and we've got to secure the depth, the underbelly of the football team," Babers said. "We're going to have a really good idea of who the starters are going to be after this, and then there are going to be a couple of battles that aren't solidified so to speak.
