Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football rose to No. 13 in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night.
The Orange (7-2, 4-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) moved up six spots after debuting at No. 19 in the initial CFP Top 25 last week. SU beat Wake Forest 41-24 in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday and was slotted 13th in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches' polls on Monday.
The CFP is composed of a 13-member selection committee that will release five weekly Top 25s before the four-team playoff field is set on Dec. 2. While it's extremely unlikely that Syracuse makes that national championship bracket, the team has a reasonable path to making a New Year's Six bowl game (Fiesta or Peach).
