Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Syracuse football's travel roster for the Wake Forest game revealed two newsworthy items: redshirt sophomore Rex Culpepper has switched positions from quarterback to tight end, and redshirt freshman cornerback Ifeatu Melifonwu did not travel due to a hamstring injury.
Culpepper, who beat testicular cancer this offseason, has always been viewed as a team-first contributor, serving as a core special teamer last year before filling in on kickoff coverage against North Carolina State last week.
A Tampa, Fla., product, Culpepper appeared in four games at quarterback last year, including his lone career start in the season finale against Boston College.
