Syracuse football raises $7,000 at 6th annual Lift for Life (video)

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football's players split into teams and took to the turf at Manley Field House for the sixth annual Lift for Life fundraiser on Friday night.

Led by offensive guard Sam Heckel, the president of SU's Uplifting Athletes chapter, the program has raised close to $7,000 in funding to fight rare diseases this year -- a number that could still increase.

After a series of relay races that included tire flips, sled pushes and rope pulls, Team Dungey took down the championship this year, beating Team Heckel in the tug-of-war finals.

Over six years, Syracuse has now raised more than $58,000 via Lift for Life.
