Right off the bat, I’ve got some bad news, no Syracuse football player is expected to be taken in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
That would be the sixth straight year that a former member of the Orange has NOT heard his name called in primetime.
In fact, since 2003 there have only been two Syracuse football players taken in the opening round:
- Justin Pugh, 19th overall, 2013 NFL Draft.
- Chandler Jones, 21st overall, 2012 NFL Draft.
Projecting forward for a second, there does appear to be some optimism that drought will end sooner rather than later over the next couple of years with talented current Syracuse players like:
- Andre Cisco
- Led all of college football in interceptions in 2018 (seven interceptions), his first year in Orange.
