Syracuse, N.Y. — Ervin Philips can flick on old Bowling Green film, identify the 5-foot-9, 170-pound slot receiver and begin to visualize his own potential in Dino Babers' offense.
Philips is practicing as a receiver in the new offense, a change from the hybrid role he played last season in which he caught 29 passes and was a threat in the option game.
His charge is largely the same heading into his junior season: Gain yardage, and be one of the offense's most dynamic athletes.
The manner in which he goes about it, though, figures to be more focused.
